Wandering through cities on summer days with my wedding couples. It might just be one of my favorite moments during weddings. It's the perfect time to let my creative chaos run wild. It's almost like going on a discovery hunt together—relaxed, without pressure, searching for beautiful moments, and, above all, for perfect light.
That Saturday in August was one of those days.
A day I won't quickly forget. A day when I, with Evelyn & Tom, went in search of light. What started as a cosy get together and first look at their home & a civil ceremony at the city hall, continued as a photo shoot throughout the city of Antwerp. No idea was too crazy, no question too much. I always say that people do a lot of walking in my shoots, that nothing is too static. Especially in a city, searching for that perfect moment I try to go for a lot of different angles This turned out to be one of the funniest moments of the year, as we went in search of the perfect photo using the typical red rental bikes in Antwerp. One of the first things I mentioned here was: “If we do it, we go for it. We’re doing this like the real bikers, Harley Davidson style.”
Probably the best part was that we were being watched by a whole crowd casually enjoying their saturday in the city.
Afterwards we concluded this city wedding with a reception and an extensive barbecue in the Serre, right in the heart of Antwerp. I tried to squeeze in a Succession style photoshoot with the groomsmen, followed later that evening by a low light session in the inner court of the venue.
After capturing these special moments, the day wrapped up with a lively dance party, where tequila shots were generously distributed. I could not resist to end my day then and there with a shot of tequila with the two of them. Call it a metaphor or something like that but did I mention before I love my job? It’s because of things like that bike, the little extra shoots and maybe even the shot of tequila. The small things that make everything a story that I love to capture. ;)
As always I’m going to try and stop talking for now and let the pictures speak. See you in the next round!
